Be filled with awe, and a deeper awareness of ourselves as humans living together on a small planet.  The opportunities for learning and growth are as infinite as the universe.

New York Night Sky Events are stimulating and inspiring experiences for all of the following:

  • a private party seeking an awe-inspiring experience
  • school groups or children ages 10 and up
  • Scouts, youth and adult clubs
  • church groups
  • businesses seeking a motivational event

Events with the telescope are best between April and November, given our local climate.  Indoor programs are available throughout the year or in case of inclement weather.

Mr. Jacobs will arrive at your venue with a six-foot tall, easy to use Dobsonian telescope which can provide breathtaking views of the moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, as well as many deep space objects.   Sky visibility conditions and seasonal changes may affect viewing.  In case of inclement weather, a program of extraordinarily beautiful NASA and Hubble photographs with explanations of our solar system and universe make for an exciting presentation.

Mr. Jacobs, producer-director of the critically-acclaimed documentary, A Sidewalk Astronomer, can include a screening of the film (DVD) as part of the program.

””A Sidewalk Astronomer’ is an inspiring film about an inspired teacher. It should leave all viewers with an ounce of curiosity eager to hit the streets with Dobsonian telescopes of their own.”  – The New York Times

Telescope viewing events are dependent on visibility conditions and usually last 2-3 hours.  Lecture, slides, and Q&A — an indoor event — can be tailored to 1-2 hours.  A combination of the above would last 2-4 hours.

— Carl Sagan
